almost to Croton Point Park |
The first day of the NY-Montreal Trek had some challenges yet a joyful day. A Breakfast of bagels and fresh squeezed orange
juice was enjoyed in Bryant park while leaders Andy and Eian helped assemble
bicycles. Then off we went to Grand Central to take a train to Dobb's Ferry.
Upon getting to Dobb's Ferry, we met up with our wonderfully tall Trekker,
Connor.
Upon departing for Croton, Andy soon decided to reward everyone with ice cream. Then after more ground gained we had a lunch of sanwiches, grapes, peaches, and strawberries. When we reached the Croton Point Park, a campground which surprisingly rises out of the depths of suburbia, the rain picked up as we hurriedly set up our tents.

A cooking crew headed by Gabe cooked up a classy Italian dinner of meat sauce, linguini, and bread.
In an intense dance off to see who would strain the pasta, the trekkers were
undecided as to who was the better dancer, Eian or Andy. So they strained it
together, narrowly avoiding steam burns. After the filling dinner, smores and
stars were the perfect end to a tough day.
