Parades, Lighthouses, & Fireworks on Block Island for the New England Shore Trekkers
Today we enjoyed our day off on Block Island for the Fourth of July. We had a leisurely morning recovering from a long ride the day before, and then headed into town for the parade. This year's theme was Favorite Television Shows, and we caught enough candy from the passing floats to last us the day. Much of the afternoon was spent at the beach, swimming, playing cards, and reading. We capped off the day with dinner and a ride to the lighthouse at the tip of the island, where we could see a half dozen fireworks displays on the mainland. It was a well-deserved day off in a beautiful place, and now we are ready to get on the road again.
