Across America Takes a Day Off

"We had our rest day in Missoula. The first order of business was to go to the adventure cycling headquarters and get our pictures taken. They said thousands of cyclists come through every year. We asked them lot of questions about touring and they gave us a nice map of Montana. For lunch we explored downtown Missoula on foot. We ended up going to a bike co op called free cycles. We just happened to get there to see a tour of the shop and a demo on bike mechanics. He had us all pick up bike wheels and check them for trueness. We need to give some special thanks to two great families we met on our trip. The first one was way back in hermisten. While getting water at a rest stop a guy named john tucker invited us to stay at his house after learning we were cycling across the country. He was a more gracious host than we could have ever asked for. He madevus barbeque. We did laundry. He showed us quilts his wife made. His niece, joy, taught David the proper way to pronounce Oregon. We got them some root beer floats to thank them for their hospitality. We have another family to thank. For the last two nights in Missoula we stayed with Kennedy's relatives." -- Jacob, Trip Leader
