Across America makes it past Lolo Pass!

“Yesterday we went over a hundred miles again!  I am continually amazed by this strong group of cyclists.  They are so self-motivated and driven that the tents seem to fly into their panniers in the morning.  They came up with a rule of going forty miles before lunch.  For the last few days we have achieved this easily. Yesterday we ascended Lolo pass.  It is one of the highest climbs through the Rockies.  Construction workers offered to give us rides to the top but we declined; purists they called us.  Down the other side we raced towards Missoula.  On the way we got a gallon of ice cream to congratulate ourselves.  Before entering the town we saw Buffalo and Texas long horn cattle, both of which most of us had never seen in the flesh.  We are staying now with a relative of Kennedy’s.  He live is a nice house by a golf course.  We are having our rest day today.  Tomorrow we will continue east on scenic highway 12 towards Bozeman.” -- Jacob Trip Leader
