NY-Montreal Trekkers Enjoyed Biking Northeastern Vermont

Our intrepid Trekkers were treated to a gorgeous ride on Friday over rolling green hillsides along Lake Champlain as they pedaled roughly 35 miles from Vergennes to Burlington, VT
where they paid a visit to the aptly named Old Spokes Home, a nonprofit bicycle shop and museum. After a scrumptious dinner of udon stir fry prepared by Adrian, Gabe, and Carter and a hurried smores session, the crew bunkered down in their tents as rain poured down. We awoke the following morning for a short and pleasant ride that featured two short ferry rides crossing from Vermont through the Champlain islands and back into New York. Leader Andy hosted the group at his spacious apartment in Plattsburgh on Saturday, where he whipped up some mango salsa over Caribbean black beans. Tomorrow the boys will be waking up early for an omelette cook-off to fuel up in advance their Canadian border crossing - Montreal, here we come!

New York - Montreal Trek Reaches Burlington

Vermont's rolling green hills brought the New York - Montreal Trekkers to Burlington, and so to the original Ben & Jerry's ice cream shop, and so to the Vermonster.  That's an ice cream sundae made with 30 scoops of ice cream and a certifiably insane amount of toppings, and served in a gallon bucket.  The kids "demolished it in about 5 minutes," according to the trip leaders.

We call that a job well done.

They took in downtown Burlington, then set up at their campsite for the night and made dinner -- Asian chicken wraps with peanut sauce, which everyone loved.

They have just a couple days left before they bike into Quebec and head for Montreal!

New York - Montreal Trek in Vermont (NYM A5)

For two days the New York-Montreal Trekkers biked north to the City of Burlington.  Vermont's rolling hills were barely a challenge for these seasoned cyclists.  The group camped in a nice campground on the shores of Lake Champlain and hit the sites of this progressive college town.
