Cape Cod Trekkers Bike Mid-Cape

Yesterday, we bid farewell to Martha's Vineyard and continued on our journey around the Cape. With most of our gear packed the night before, we were focused to get back on the road.
We hopped on the ferry once again to get back to the main land. Once we landed back in Woods Hole, we started our 30-mile trek to West Yarmouth. Our ride under the sun began along the coast with views of the ocean, sand and plenty of beachgoers. It was mostly smooth, on paved roads, and we wound through some quiet coastal neighborhoods.
A short wrong turn added an extra couple miles to our journey, but we made it to our hotel with plenty of time to enjoy the indoor pool. After eating dinner together, we rode down the street to play mini golf. There were no winners or losers in our game, as we decided to play just for fun.
Once back at the hotel, we took some time to wind down in the pool and hot tub, and also in the game room. The hotel provided a very comfortable shelter before continuing on to Brewster, where we will be camping out once again.   -- Trip leaders Annise and Cory

Cape Cod Trekkers at Historic Plymouth Rock

Our third day brought us to Plymouth Memorial State Park, site of where the pilgrims landed in the Mayflower in 1620.
Before reaching the historic Plymouth Rock, we made an unexpected, but pleasant stop in Brewster Gardens, where we saw swans floating in the pond, and had lunch surrounded by a large gaggle of geese and safe of ducks.
Once we arrived at Plymouth Rock, we were surprised by how small it was. We also walked by the replica Mayflower, which was docked at the edge of the harbor. The center of town, located along the coast, was very charming. We walked around a couple of gift shops and had ice cream before continuing on our bikes.
The next leg of the day's ride was a challenge. We rode some intense hills. After walking our bikes across the Sagamore Bridge, with a great view of the Cape Cod Canal, we finally made it to our destination at Shawme-Crowell State Park in Sandwich, Massachusetts. We covered around 26 miles for the day, and arrived at camp ready to rest, refuel and head for our next day's journey to Falmouth.  -- Trip leaders Annise and Corey
