Maine Coast Trek Arrives in Portland
The Maine Coast Trekkers have been enjoying Portland (and the air-conditioned hotel rooms they're staying in). On their way there, they discovered an "awe-inspiring" candy store and had pastries and coffee at a cafe called Mornings in Paris. They coasted the rest of the way into town, aided by a great tailwind.
They've been exploring the city, admiring the architecture, and checking out restaurants downtown. Next, they'll head on up the coast to Freeport.

Maine Coast Trek Relaxes in Portland
After biking 5 days through the heat, the cold, the rain, beautiful scenery, and miles of wonderful bike paths, the Maine Coast Trek rode into their Portland hotel ready for hot showers, a soft bed, and laundry. The next day we stuck around to explore downtown Portland with it's beautiful architecture, seaport shops and amazing seafood restaurants. Of course dinner was LOBSTER at a waterfront restaurant, in addition other seafood specialties!
Good eats and great day!

Across America Crossing Oregon
The Across America Trekkers have made it to Portland!
As you can see, they are enjoying their hotel's pool!
The group is still getting to know one another, and are full of conversation and curiosity! Portland is ranked the nation's most bike friendly city, so there will be plenty for them to see and do on two wheels! It is also the only large US city to have achieved the League of American Bicyclists highest ranked Platinum Bicycle Friendly Community (BFC).
Portland is also full of bike friendly streets, like this:
